Superstition.

Greetings! Hopefully you're familiar with the Stevie Wonder song "Superstition." If you're not familiar with it, I'm sure you've probably heard it somewhere and just don't know the name. Or if you actually haven't heard it ever before, I invite you to go listen to it. Why am I bringing this up? Simply put: because it's Friday. But it's Friday the sixth, not Friday the Thirteenth, what gives? This song is just an any Friday kind of song. Why? Oh, let me explain.
In high school, both Rocket and I were in band. Obviously I continued instrumental music and she did not, but that's beside the point. The point is we were both in band. That entails concert band, full orchestra, marching band, jazz band and the like. We went to a large high school, and the band room was home base for the (dedicated) band kids. Makes sense, yes? Indeed. We had a very large band program, in fact, the entire music program was huge at our high school. Thus, the band room would need to be spacious enough for all of us band geeks to have plenty of room for lockers, many chairs, instrument cases, instruments, and music stands. During the week, all of the chairs and music stands would be left out (in "formation," kind of). On Fridays, the chairs and music stands needed to be stacked up, racked up and moved out of the way so the wonderful custodians could (try to) clean all of our spit and whatever else off of the industrial-grade carpet. As you can imagine, there were quite a few chairs and music stands. On Friday afternoons, whoever was still hanging around in the band room got to "Rack & Stack." There were usually plenty of people hanging about in the band room after school, especially on Fridays. As we would begin the process of "Rack & Stack," we would play this same CD every Friday. The "Rack & Stack CD." Among some great classic funk and soul type tunes, the first track was "Superstition." That's the real reason that song is one of the best Friday songs ever. I got ultra-used to it vibrating my ear drums every Friday, it makes hearing it on any other day just seem wrong.
There's my Friday-song story. Also, probably the only time you'll hear me say anything almost positive about my high school. If you want a positive outlook on the school we went to, talk to Rocket. I found the whole thing completely bogus. But! It's Friday, and "Superstition" came on my iPhone's shuffle earlier. Works for me! What's your Friday-song? Other than the disgustingly revolting "Friday" song. Tell me in the comments below, Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Until next time!
--Bones.
